Let it Be

Bullhead Creek is a stream with a reputation; that reputation was one of a place that held 30" browns and 'bows. That is why 5star and I fished it recently. It is modeled after a fly fishing club, you pay a fee and get to fish a section of the stream all to yourself for as long as you want.
We camped out in a primitive site, which was near this beautiful little waterfall
...

After shutting down camp we paid our dues and got on the Bullhead Stream, it looked mighty fishy...
....I had signed up for section 6 of the creek and 5star had section 5(naturally) and we got to prospecting, surveying, sneaking and tossing our flies. It was slow going as I made my way through the section. Not a lot of plunge pools at first, came to this one after a few minutes...
..and knew that it held fish...had visions in my head of a 5 pounder just cruising at the top of this pool.....
...but this was all I pulled out of there. Even more depressing, was that this pool was the end of my section! I was a little confused because from what I had heard the sections were much longer.
Went back to meet up with 5star and see how section 5 was and it was about the same, no big boys, just babys like the one above. We met a father and son team on the trail a few minutes later and got the scoop; someone had come with CASTING NETS and 5 GALLON BUCKETS and TAKEN all the trout. Whoever did it should be castrated. So, just a warning, don't waste your money on Bullhead thinking there are big trout up there; it's not true. The reputation has shifted, from big trout, to a poached stream.

Decided to fish the upper part of Stone Mountain Creek when we got done on Bullhead and caught tons of fish, mostly small chubs and browns, and one unusual red and green fish that I wish I had gotten a picture of ....it was really buggy
....but didn't manage too many of these.....
....until next time, -FHP
